LIVING ARK SANCTUARY PROJECTS

Projects 1

Learning from animals.

This focus on how much or little restriction should be placed on an animals life to make it a manageable utility eclipses the deeper non commoditized value of an animals life.

Animal communication is emerging as a popular subject where the animal is approached as an individual consciousness who has opinions, memories, beliefs and insights, not to mention prejudices, just as humans do. With training one can become more attuned to the animal to a surprisingly accurate degree.

Caring for animals

Regarding reception of farm animals by the charity. Such animals have come from livestock markets, or from farms directly (if the farmer is willing to sell, as has happened with our battery hens). On occasion, offered animals from producer/ livestock farmer may be accepted, it is expected with appropriate written documentation/ registration documents. Thus we received our first pig.

The underlying issue is one of attitude. The aim of LivingArk is to repackage the public perception of an individual animal from something to be used as a food-item to that of a being with experiences similar to those of humans that can express him or herself in a variety of ways.
